Love It or Hate It, Fluid Engine is Here to Stay

Now that the dust has settled, Squarespace’s latest content editor release, Fluid Engine, has stirred up passions on either side of the fence. While some users have become instant fans, since it poises users for a more seamless and intuitive website building experience and allows easy customization of fonts and colors and more layout options, all without needing to know any coding, some have been hesitant to adopt it for various legitimate reasons. With a growing list yet to be ironed out, Fluid Engine is a content editor for “the rest of us”, allowing both amateurs to take a giant leap forward in the web design world and experienced Squarespace designers to finally make use of some long awaited tools.

Additionally, since Fluid Engine’s release, Squarespace continues to release updates on the regular, with particular focus on offering more control over responsive mobile design, where over 60% of web users are now accessing sites. While some may nostalgically look back to Squarespace’s previous content editors (7.0 and 7.1), the growing list of capabilities at the fingertips of designers now opens up a new world of creativity, functionality, and efficiency. Classic editor lovers can relax as well, since for now, Squarespace is allowing users to choose between Classic and Fluid Engine editors.
